Will The Next Path Of Exile 2 Early Access Class Be Druid Or Templar?

There are only 6 classes in Path of Exile 2 early access, which is half of the official version, so there may provide more classes for you before the official version is launched. Based on the current situation analysis, it may be Druid or Templar.

The development of any large-scale ARPG will not be smooth sailing. Even a series like Path of Exile, whose first game has been successful, has experienced twists and turns in the development of the sequel. Since the initial announcement of the production, various rumors related to POE 2 have been rampant, and the official release has been repeatedly postponed until the early access version was finally launched on December 6, 2024.

According to official news, POE 2 will bring up to 12 classes in the official version to meet the needs of almost all players, while there are only 6 in the current early access. Although this half should be enough for you to play for a while by creating different characters, the official version is expected to be released in May-June 2025 at the earliest, so we reasonably suspect that the early access may gradually add some classes that have not yet been launched by adding updates. Will The Next Path Of Exile 2 Early Access Class Be Druid Or Templar?

The Current Status Of The Classes In The Early Access

If you have played both games, you will know that there are many differences in the class settings between POE 1 and 2. For example, the original game has seven classes, each with three sublimations and their own unique attribute combinations, while in the early access of the sequel, there are 6 classes (12 in the official version), each with only 2 sublimations, and their attribute combinations are as follows:

  • Sorceress-Pure Intelligence
  • Warrior-Pure Strength
  • Ranger-Pure Dexterity
  • Witch-Pure Intelligence
  • Mercenary-Strength & Dexterity
  • Monk-Dexterity & Intelligence

Druid Or Templar May Continue To Be Released

As you can see, in the list listed above, there are two classes with the pure intelligence attribute, and there is a lack of classes with intelligence and strength attribute combinations, so if POE 2 continues to bring a batch of new classes for testing before the official version is launched, it should be mainly intelligence + strength attribute types. The attribute combinations of the remaining 6 unreleased classes are as follows:

  • Druid-Intelligence & Strength
  • Templar-Intelligence & Strength
  • Marauder-Pure Strength
  • Duelist-Strength & Dexterity
  • Huntress-Pure Dexterity
  • Shadow-Dexterity & Intelligence

Among these classes, only Druid and Templar have the attributes of intelligence + strength. Interestingly, Diablo 4, the biggest competitor of Path of Exile 2, has not yet launched a Templar-type class (although Diablo 3 has one), so if POE 2 can let you play Templar class before Diablo 4, it will have a chance to take the lead in the first half of 2025.

And if POE 2 chooses Druid as the next class, it is also possible. In this way, by comparing with Diablo 4’s Druid, both sides can be encouraged to improve in the competition actively, which will make you the biggest beneficiary as a player.

Of course, the above is just our guess. In fact, Path of Exile 2 Early Access may unexpectedly bring other classes besides Druid and Templar. If you want to be 100% sure of your class experience, you may have to wait until the official version is launched.
