Path of Exile 2 0.5.2 First Look | Delirium Toned Down, Endgame Playability Upgraded

Recently, Path of Exile 2 released its second patch for Return of the Ancients - 0.5.2. Today, we'll take a detailed look at the patch notes and see what surprises this patch brings.

Endgame Changes

Path of Exile 2 0.5.2 First Look | Delirium Toned Down, Endgame Playability Upgraded

In the endgame changes, we can see the addition of an On the Wind multichoice Keystone Atlas Passive, specifically designed to enhance Azmeri Spirits. However, it's a choice between two effects: increasing its movement speed by 50% or allowing it to persist even when no players are nearby. Players can choose the appropriate effect based on their character's strength.

A new item called Necrotic Catalyst has also been added, which can improve the quality of Minion Modifiers on rings or amulets. Additionally, there is a Refined Necrotic Catalyst. Both Catalysts can only be obtained from Genesis Tree. Given the significant benefits they will provide later, players are advised to stockpile as many as possible early on when they are relatively easy to obtain. Otherwise, by the time everyone realizes their value, a large amount of POE 2 currency will be needed.

Next is the Mysterious Rites Atlas Passive, where Queen's Rituals now have 10 additional Omens added to the first set of Favours. This will significantly enhance the effects of these specific rituals. Mysterious Rites Atlas Passive will now also describe all other bonuses previously associated with Queen's Rituals. Previously, players were often unaware of some hidden bonuses in PoE 2; this change will make the specific effects of Queen's Rituals more transparent.

Mortuary Map can now only be unlocked through Jado Atlas Master option in Unexpected Missions. You can now also replace Limbs here, previously only available as a reward in Atziri's Temple. However, to experience this mechanic, you must first defeat  Map Boss.

In addition, a new feature for controller players has been added to Endgame Map - a shortcut menu to enhance the gaming experience. Hold down the X button after opening the map to view this menu.

Delirium Changes

The previous Delirium felt like it only added too much danger without providing many rewards. Therefore, Delirium will be undergoing a series of changes.

First, Toughness gained from Unique Enemies in Delirium will be halved. Toughness is a multiplier of a monster's effective health, but it is reflected as damage reduction. For example, if your Toughness reaches 100%, it's equivalent to having 100% extra health.

Next is the most important change in Delirium - Increased Damage gained from Normal, Magic, and Rare Enemies in Fog in Delirium Encounters will be halved. This means these monsters won't become as powerful as before. They will still be more durable than without Fog, but it will take a considerable amount of time for them to recover to their previous danger level.

Additionally, Delirium Shards on Bar will no longer spawn as early as before; they will only appear when the player reaches a specific depth. Their spawn locations have also been optimized, preventing them from appearing directly in front of the player.

Finally, Delirium Mirror Shards spawned by hitting depth targets after Delirium Encounters will no longer appear.

Runes of Aldur Changes

The most significant change to Runes of Aldur is the increased rewards for Remnant Encounters in high-tier PoE 2 maps (Tier 14 and above), while removing most of the 3-slot runic inscriptions from these maps. Their spawn rate also decreases starting from Tier 10 maps.

Next, regarding Remnant Encounters, Runefather's Alloy and Runebinder's Alloy (currently very rare) can now be found in Encounters as rewards for 8-slot runic inscriptions.

Bond Runes in Remnant Encounters have also been changed. Rare monsters still transfer their Modifiers upon death, but their numbers have decreased. Even though the number of Modifiers they can possess will gradually increase with each wave, the nerf to Rare monsters is a foregone conclusion.

Next is a gear change - Runemastered Ornate Ringmail Body Armour basetype. Its Armor and Energy Shield stats have almost tripled, and Ward has also received a significant buff: from 210 Armor, 60 Energy Shield, and 112 Ward to 725 Armor, 206 Energy Shield, and 130 Ward.

Monster Changes

In addition to the above changes, Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.2 also nerfed many monsters. For example, Faridun Prince's dash will no longer deal damage twice and will no longer damage melee targets, a change that was previously considered unfairly strong for this monster. The following monsters have all been weakened to varying degrees:

  • Tendril Sentinel Monster
  • Cecilian Ravager
  • Runic Monster
  • Krelll Skull Crawler
  • Starlid Harvester
  • Cultist Archer
  • Blackblooded Elite Abyss Monster

However, the most noteworthy Monster Change is the significant nerf to Chaos Beam from It That Hates Breach Monster. This Chaos Beam is said to have caused one million character deaths. It was the most dangerous monster in PoE 2 outside of bosses, and this nerf is a complete overhaul; without the powerful Chaos Beam, players no longer need to fear it.

Overall, 0.5.2 is an update prioritizing player experience. Delirium monsters are no longer overpowered, and the new hotkeys for Endgame maps and the nerf to Chaos Beam make map clearing smoother. By the way, exiles, keep an eye out for the new drops from Genesis Tree, especially Necrotic Catalyst - they are likely to become one of the new core currencies in Path of Exile 2.

3 Recommended League Starter Builds for Path of Exile 2 0.5.0 | Ranged Area Damage or Detonating Corpses?

With the release of Path of Exile 2 0.5.0, endgame gameplay has undergone a dramatic change, meaning players' choices of league starter builds will also change. So, which builds are best suited for this league? Here are three recommended league starter builds: Grenade Mercenary, Double Djinn Blaster, and Whirling Assault.

Grenade Mercenary

3 Recommended League Starter Builds for Path of Exile 2 0.5.0 | Ranged Area Damage or Detonating Corpses?

Grenade Mercenary doesn't directly attack monsters with grenade attacks, but rather uses explosive shots to cover the entire battle map, dealing damage and suppressing all enemies. Combined with Trinity, it can trigger damage from three elements simultaneously, making it ideal for situations with many enemies and varying armor types.

Furthermore, even without the best Lineage Support gems, it can still deal massive damage, which is why it's suitable for early game progression. You can easily use it to progress from Tier 1 to Tier 5 on a map, making it great for beginners, although you might need to equip some items later to increase reload speed. However, to address this, we can currently use the double barrel to stun enemies and then reload during the opening.

In version 0.5.0, I recommend pairing Grenade Mercenary with gemling, as it now has an advanced thaumaturgy, providing additional effects for socketed skills.

For example, a fireball originally only has a 10% chance to fire two extra projectiles in all directions, but with gemling, you'll have a 25% chance to fire six projectiles in all directions - a significant improvement. Now imagine what interesting changes would occur when other grenade skills, such as reduced cooldown and increased ignition intensity, are combined with gemling?

In addition, we'll be getting a new weapon called Redemption Trarthan Cannon, essentially a grenade launcher. It boasts devastating firepower and critical hit damage. Another interesting skill that can be equipped on a support gem is Runeforged Blades, which fires runic projectiles at the cost of runic ward, ultimately depleting the enemy's completely damaged armor.

However, compared to the area-of-effect damage of Grenade Mercenary, these skills seem less important.

Double Djinn Blaster

Next is Double Djinn Blaster build. This build greatly reduces your risk of death because minions will fill the entire map, absorbing most of the damage. And now, since command skills have less impact on movement speed, you'll be much more agile. With minions flying everywhere and your own super-fast movement speed, it's hard for any damage to land on you.

Once you choose to use Double Djinn Blaster, my advice is to ignore the runes and just spam skills. You'll feel like you're wreaking havoc, unable to stop, unless your skills are on cooldown.

The best part of this build is that initially, you only need to absorb orbs of storm, gradually accumulating experience until around level 23, where you'll acquire Kelari's Deception. This allows you to use it for large-scale monster clearing and game completion.

Then, as you progress, the more gems you acquire, the more your skills are enhanced, your strength gradually increases, and completing games becomes easier.

Here's an additional Kalguuran Skill that enhances Double Djinn Blaster - Eternal March. It instantly revives your minions, prioritizing your strongest minions. This is extremely useful when you've sacrificed minions to prioritize obtaining reward; you can instantly revive your strongest minions, especially when facing exceptionally powerful enemies. Furthermore, it's said that the minions themselves have been strengthened to some extent, so this build is likely to become even more powerful.

Whirling Assault

The third is Whirling Assault - using a spinning attack to damage surrounding enemies while moving forward. However, remember to pair it with Smith of Kitava, as it releases fire upon impact. This significantly increases the actual attack range of Whirling Assault.

The principle behind this is that the additional fire attack triggers a corpse explosion, which in turn attacks nearby surviving enemies, causing chain damage. Furthermore, since the damage from the corpse explosion depends solely on the corpse's health, not our fire damage, we don't need to worry about anything else; just focus on swinging the staff to deal damage.

Simultaneously, your chest armor will be enhanced by Smith of Kitava - you won't even need to spend Path of Exile 2 Currency upgrade your equipment and increase your resistances to ensure high damage output while staying alive.

Patch 0.5.0 also buffed Tempest Bell, making it easier for players to execute clear-the-field combos, greatly improving the efficiency of melee-plus-AOE clearing combos. Additionally, you can use Mantra of Destruction to quickly stack charged staff, continuously dealing massive damage.

These are the three league starter builds I recommend and have already used. Each has its own advantages in different scenarios, but they are all very easy to learn and suitable for the early stages of a league. For ultimate long-range firepower, choose Grenade Mercenary; for lower risk, Double Djinn Blaster; and for the thrill of fast-paced mowing down of enemies, go for Whirling Assault. Quickly choose your favorite build and start clearing the map!

From Explosive Mining to Endgame Islands: Exploring Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 New Runes of Aldur League

Dear Exiles, the much-anticipated Path of Exile 2 0.5.0 Return of the Ancients expansion is finally officially available in the game on May 29th! This update not only brings new Ascendancies, expanded endgame mechanics, but also introduces a new Challenge League: Runes of Aldur!

In this Challenge League, you need to assist Farrow in searching for clues about ancient Runesmithing techniques and gradually uncover the secrets buried deep in Wraeclast continent. Next, we will explain in detail how this 0.5.0 Runes of Aldur league works to help you easily win in the early stages of pioneering!

From Explosive Mining to Endgame Islands: Exploring Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 New Runes of Aldur League

How does it work?

First, as we explore Runesmithing techniques, we may find related ancient Ezomyte Remnants with rune slots in the area. Putting the runes into the corresponding empty slots activates Runesmithing system and gives you the freedom to choose any rune and currency item effects. Of course, it would be a mistake if you really choose randomly here, because these runes will be directly related to the strength of the monsters you face next and the quality of the loot.

Yes, activating Ezomyte Remnants will resurrect monsters empowered by these runes, and your goal is to kill waves of enemies and unlock specific loot and crafting materials!

In Runes of Aldur League, there are more than 150 runes for you to choose from, allowing you to customize the strengthening slots according to your own play style and obtain exclusive loot. Of course, the available rune combinations will scale as the game progresses. The deeper you progress in the endgame, the more rune options you encounter in Ezomyte Remnants, and the more diverse the rune combinations you can customize.

For example, here we can use Tempest and Lightning Rune to synthesize Orb of Augmentation. But these runes don't just create basic orbs, they can also create special slotted items that enhance your gear.

However, it should be noted that the runes you choose will directly affect the difficulty of the monster. Simply put, the more runes you choose, the more powerful the monsters you encounter will be strengthened and the higher their damage output. So please choose rune enhancements reasonably within the scope of your build capabilities, otherwise your game progress will only stagnate.

Runic Ward, Skills and Alloys

As the game progresses, we have the opportunity to discover new Runic Magic of Kalguuran and use them to equip Runic Wards on armor items. When players' lives are in danger, Runic Ward can help them avoid death and is a new resource.

Interestingly, it can be used not only to provide health buffs, but also a necessity when using the dozens of Runic Skills added in Path of Exile 2 0.5.0. These skills can be combined with all weapon types and normal skills to produce special effects.

Runic Alloys is a new PoE2 currency that can add a fixed modifier to an item and remove a random modifier. New affixes are often unobtainable through regular production, and their functions are similar to Perfect Essences. A total of 13 new Alloys have been added to the game, which means you have more options to customize your equipment effects and further unleash the potential of your character build.

New Weapon Runecrafting and Socketable Runes

In Act 3, after players find Mystic Refuge, they can unlock the ability to reforge Unique Kalguuran Weapons, making them even more powerful. In PoE 2 0.5.0, there are over 150 new Runes of Aldur available to craft and use. It is worth noting that the crafting method of some items will be changed under the influence of Runes.

For example, when players attach Uhtred's Sidereus Rune to an item, the rare new Uhtred's Sidereus Rune effect will appear! This requires players to carefully identify whether the properties of items will be significantly changed because of Runes.

POE 2 New Weapon Runecrafting and Socketable Runes

Evolution and Ending

After entering Act 4, players will enter the new adventure mode and enter the ancient cemetery accompanied by Farrow. Players obtain Remnants by using chains of explosives to mine monsters affected by Ezomyte Remnants. But the number of Remnants that players want to dig up will determine the difficulty of the battle and the richness of the loot.

After entering the endgame, players need to help Rog find and save his wife Gwennen. This quest will take players to a series of islands to the south, offering challenges such as Expeditions, Grand Expeditions (Logbooks), and some new Bosses and Pinnacle Bosses.

These islands may provide new map routes and resources. Players will experience different encounters on each island and have different impacts on Expeditions. For example, some islands hide huge bosses. However, new bosses mean new Unique Items, so do you want to encounter a powerful boss and get rich loot, or a mediocre boss for stability?

In short, Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Runes of Aldur League, as a new challenge league, is still worth playing. The new resources and gameplay introduced provide players with more choices and different experiences. Has the gaming experience improved or become more complicated? Come and try it together!

POE 2: Return of the Ancients - Patch 0.5.0 Predictions, Reworks & Endgame Hopes

May 08, 2026

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0, Return of the Ancients is coming soon. This will be the largest and most impactful patch since Early Access. It will even have a profound impact on the game after version 1.0. It will be one of the most influential patches in Path of Exile 2's history.

Return of the Ancients is not only massive in scale but also the culmination of a long development process, generating extremely high expectations from players. Whether Path of Exile 2 can live up to these expectations will determine the future direction of the game.Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients - Patch 0.5.0 Predictions, Reworks & Endgame Hopes

If this update is well-done, it could even become the best ARPG on the market. Next, I'd like to talk about my predictions for this update and my expectations for future game optimizations.

Patch 0.5.0 Predictions

League Mechanic Reworks

We've already seen many trailers for Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 regarding League Mechanic. Now, we've seen many trailers about the season mechanics. There are changes related to Breach, Delirium Expedition, and the latest one, which we all expect will be a Ritual-related mechanic change. I anticipate all these seasonal mechanics will be reworked, and the temples will also be altered.

The trailer also features sculptures of the three Azmeri deities: Solaris, Lunaris, and Viridi. They have close ties to Viridian Wildwood, especially Viridi, who is the goddess of Viridian Wildwood.

Ritual-related pinnacle boss, King in the Mist, is attempting to lead his followers and monsters to conquer Wildwood. I personally believe this rework will combine the themes of Ritual and Viridian Wildwood, and the rework will involve some content on exploring Abyss Depths, similar to the way Viridian Wildwood was reworked in POE1.

New Pinnacle Bosses

We will also see new pinnacle bosses in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0. If we examine Path of Exile 2 database, we've actually seen some potential new Pinnacle Bosses in the files. For example, Tang Mazu, Pinnacle boss in Delirium, and Ritual Wendigo, Pinnacle boss in Ritual.

However, we must be cautious with data mining, as some content might be added to the files but may not be implemented in the game anytime soon. For instance, we found Martial Artist Ascendy in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.2.0 files, but it hasn't been added to the game yet.

This information does suggest that new Pinnacle bosses might be added to Delirium and Ritual, and perhaps even other difficulties.

Infinite Atlas

I believe Infinite Atlas is definitely going to be reworked. We saw hints of this inPath of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 trailer, where massive rock formations were seen rising from the ground. I think this symbolizes an entirely new Atlas - a new way to explore Infinite Atlas - along with brand-new content and Path Of Exile 2 Currency.

I believe there will be significant changes to Infinite Atlas, which will affect how we experience the endgame content of Path of Exile 2. Atlas Skill Tree will also be reworked. The developers have stated they are constantly working on improvements, and we expect a complete overhaul of Atlas Skill Tree.

Ascendancy Classes

I believe there will be new Ascendancy classes, and possibly more than one. Wild Speaker is almost certain to be released. I think so because we've already seen it on Path of Exile 2 website. If you visit the website, scroll down to see the teaser image of Wild Speaker.

This will be a Hunter class, related to Azmeri Spirit. You'll notice that Azmeri has been a key element in all our Path of Exile 2 Return of the Ancients trailers, and it will play a significant role in this update.

Regarding new classes, if new classes are indeed released, it will most likely be Swords and Gladiators. We have indeed received some scattered hints from Kelly. The trailers also hinted at Swords, but there's no other concrete information confirming that Swords are coming.

Waystone System and Wisp Rework

It even has the potential to become the best ARPG on the market. With the rework of the infinite map, the way we play endgame maps will transform. We may see changes to Waystone System, mods, juicing, tablets, and more. Given various hints about Wisp in Path of Exile 2: Return of the Ancients trailer, a Wisp rework is also quite likely.

Issues Still Needing Optimization

To become the best ARPG, POE 2 has a long way to go. Currently, there are still some issues in the game that need to be addressed and optimized.

Skill Level System

I hope to see a rework of the skill level system. This has been a hot topic among players who are tired of searching for extra skills on equipment because it makes gear combinations unreliable and greatly limits gear choices. Many unique weapons without additional skill levels aren't very useful. If they can adjust this system, many unique weapons could be reborn and become more effective.

Augments and Socket System

Augments and Socket system in Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 is extremely complex. Initially, the developers stated that Socketables were intended to replace Crafting Bench, but now, because of the sheer number of sockets in the game and their confusing names and classifications, I feel they cause far more chaos than functionality.

I believe Crafting Bench is currently a more elegant solution to this problem, while sockets do have shortcomings. The developers could significantly reduce the number of sockets in the game, making them a higher-level equipment item used to upgrade your character's gear. This would retain the appeal of some high-value socket items in the current game.

Passive Tree

Furthermore, I believe adding a health attribute to Passive Tree is inevitable. Currently, improvements to armor and evasion are largely limited by the inability to increase health, and energy shields will always dominate. Therefore, I think adding a healthy attribute to Passive Tree is crucial and a necessary condition for building an effective and balanced defensive system.

Path of Exile 2 Patch 0.5.0 Return of Ancients is more than just an ordinary league update; it carries the long-awaited expectations of players. Whether this update can take a substantial step forward will directly affect the future direction of the game.
