How To Understand Talent Tree In Path Of Exile 2?

In Path of Exile 2, your talent tree offers a variety of options that you can use to enhance everything about your build. Most of these are generic affixes that increase damage types, but a few may provide unique bonuses to their final core talents. Others offer huge powers, such as the keystone talent nodes you find at the edge of the talent tree. As you level up, complete side quests, and advance the story, you will earn more talent skill points.

The exact passive skills available at the beginning of the tree vary depending on your starting class. Once you start from your starting position, you can traverse the entire talent tree, and it’s the same tree for all classes! This allows for a lot of customization possibilities in your build, allowing you to change the behavior of skills or create some crazy melee Sorceress builds! Allocating talent points is not a permanent choice! If you regret any of your decisions, or just want to change your build, you can spend gold to reset your talent tree.

Talent Tree

How To Understand Talent Tree In Path Of Exile 2?

Talent tree nodes are divided into four major categories:

  • Attribute nodes: Give you the option to increase Strength, Dexterity, or Intelligence.
  • Minor nodes: Provide small bonuses, such as increased fire damage.
  • Major nodes: These passives appear at the end of a series of minor talents and provide more substantial bonuses, such as a high increase in lightning damage and a chance to reduce enemy lightning resistance.

Keystone nodes: Are unique passives that have powerful effects and are often the core mechanics of a build. For example, a keystone talent might fix health at 1, forcing you to build around energy shields instead of health.

Talent trees also generally follow the theme of attributes. Intelligence is related to lightning and spells, Dexterity is related to frost and projectiles, Strength is related to fire and melee, and these associations are not isolated, and the types of talent groups mix together as you move closer to or away from each quadrant of the talent tree.

Keystone nodes have a much greater impact on build creation than POE 1. Keystone nodes have stronger benefits than before, and more severe negative effects than before.

Weapon Specialisation

You can further customise your build using Path of Exile 2’s weapon specialisation system. Weapon specialisation is easy to use for new players, easy to use for veterans, or for anyone who wants a themed build, like a Witch Hunter with a crossbow and a melee weapon! If you don’t want to use 2 weapon sets right away, just use weapon specialisation points as extra talents!

Weapon specialisation is a way to switch talent points based on your primary weapon dynamically. You earn these talent points by levelling up and completing quests during the campaign.

Book of Specialisation is your key to unlocking weapon specialisation, which you’ll need to earn by defeating some optional bosses and completing side quests.

Resetting Talent

Resetting your talent tree is easier than ever! Resetting talents doesn’t require a currency like POE 2 Exalted, you only need gold. It drops everywhere in the game and also acts as a ‘tax’ for using currency. If you make a mistake with a talent, or want to try a new skill or talent combination, just find the mysterious Hooded One in Act 1.

Here you can spend gold to reset your talent points. The reset price is dynamic, and the cost changes with level and how many points you have allocated in the talent tree. This means you can reset your talents earlier and easier than in POE 1. You also get a 50% discount when resetting attribute nodes, so don’t be afraid to choose a new route on the attribute nodes to explore!

What Are Catalysts In POE 2 And How Do You Get Them?
Cornell Otto

There are a lot of resources available in POE 2, but many new players don't know how to use them properly. Catalysts in particular are not well understood by many players, and players need to remember that not all Catalysts are worth keeping, and some may just be taking up space.

How Do Catalysts Work?

Although it's hard to get a clear idea of what Catalysts are, they are essentially special quality currency for rings and amulets, but they are different from regular POE 2 Currency. For example, A Blacksmith's Whetstone and Catalysts can both increase the effectiveness of a ring or amulet, but Catalysts don't increase the value of all modifiers, only specific modifiers in the same category.

Ideally, players can find at least two or three rings or amulets of the same type, and then match them with the appropriate catalysts to get the most value. Don't worry about not being able to change catalysts. If you were planning to use Tul's Catalyst to increase Cold Modifiers of a ring, but later decided to attribute stacking, you can use Adaptive Catalyst instead.

What Are Catalysts In POE 2 And How Do You Get Them?

A Catalyst Affects Identifying Modifiers

The easiest way for players to determine which modifiers are affected by a catalyst is to use poe2db. By searching for the modifier on the ring, we can see its definition tags. For example, #% increased Cold Damage usually has tags such as Damage and Cold. There are no tags that affect elements or damage, only a cold tag.

In addition, #% of health usually has tags of health, attack, and physical, which means that three different catalysts increase these attributes, respectively. So, if players have two other attributes on their ring, they can choose to use Flesh Catalyst, so that they can maximize their functions.

How To Get Catalysts?

The maximum quality of a ring is +20%. Unlike weapons and armor, however, Breach Rings in POE 2 have a maximum quality of +50%, the highest in the game. This not only means that Catalysts can increase the value of certain modifiers on Breach Rings to very powerful levels, but also makes perfectly rolled Breach Rings with the right Catalyst the most powerful rings in the entire game.

How can players get Catalysts? In fact, it is the most common drop when clearing Breach nodes on Atlas. Players can not only get them by defeating Breach monsters, but also by squatting for Clasped Hands that appear regularly when Breach expands. However, remember that it is not easy to defeat monsters.

In addition, players can also increase the drop rate of these items by using Precursor tablets and Atlas skill tree points to avoid a situation where a lot of effort is invested, but nothing is achieved! Of course, players can also get a large number of Catalysts through Currency Exchange after talking to Alva and selecting Catalysts. Compared with the above methods, this seems to be the easiest and most convenient way.

Catalysts and how to use them are indeed relatively unfamiliar to many players, but in fact, as long as players master the key points, they can maximize their role in the game and add new fun to the entire game.

POE 2's Continuous Updates Have Caused Dissatisfaction Among A Large Number Of POE 1 Players

The developer has invested a lot of time in Path Of Exile 2, which has caused serious dissatisfaction among POE fans. Even though the developer has made it clear that it will continue to develop POE 1 and bring new stories to players, POE 2 Early Access and the upcoming POE 2 0.2.0 have made the original work's fans feel that the developer is just painting a pie in the sky and has not taken any practical action.

POE 1 Has No Future?

As the developer continues to update sequel, many players have said that original work may disappear in the future game market. Even though it has a large fan base, it does not seem to be taken seriously by the developer at present. Because the developer has made huge economic achievements from POE 2, the developer has no time to take care of POE, which has been relegated to the cold palace.

We checked the public comments on Internet and found that many players who play sequel are not old players of POE 1, but more are new players who have given up other games. These players praised POE 2, saying that it was very difficult and fun to kill bosses in the game, and that various activities also attracted the attention of players. They earned POE 2 Currency and got new weapons and equipment through these methods.

But many POE 1 players disagreed. They felt that POE 1 was more to their liking. And although the original work did not reach the level of explosive popularity, it has been steadily rising in the past, and few games can achieve this result.

POE 2's Continuous Updates Have Caused Dissatisfaction Among A Large Number Of POE 1 Players

Do Developers Really Value POE 1?

When players' dissatisfaction fermented into uncontrollable remarks, developers had to explain. GGG said that they would still develop and expand POE 1, but this would take time. They also wanted to bring new game content to players as soon as possible, but because POE 2 Early Access version took a lot of time and money, they had to suspend the development of POE 1. Whether this is the truth, we don't know.

In order to ease the anger of fans, the developer also publicly apologized to POE 1 players, but is this the developer's true idea or a delaying tactic? The developer has repeatedly postponed the update of POE 3.26, but has continuously released various patches for POE 2. Do the developers really value POE 1 and players?

For this, they also have their own arguments. They said that they could not divide their time and energy equally between the two games. It was because they did not balance well that the complaints of players became increasingly strong. Moreover, after the release of the sequel, many problems arose, and they could not ignore them. Therefore, they could only spend more time on solving the problems, which further hindered the development of POE 1.
