Path of Exile 2 1.0: What Will Be Included in the Full Release?

Based on recent developer comments and community discussions, this guide breaks down what players can realistically expect from Path of Exile 2 1.0 full release.

As Path of Exile 2 0.5.0 progresses, more and more players are focusing on the true 1.0 release. 1.0 release date, number of classes, endgame gameplay, and overall balance have become the hottest topics in the community recently.

Although the official content of Path of Exile 2 1.0 has not yet been released, Development Director Jonathan Rogers has recently revealed a lot of directional information in livestreams, developer interviews, and community Q&A sessions.

Path of Exile 2 1.0: What Will Be Included in the Full Release?

From these public statements, 1.0 seems to focus on improving the existing system rather than completely overhauling the game. While much of this remains speculative, these directions basically outline the future development of the Path of Exile 2 official version.

Release Date

The initial speculation about PoE2 1.0 release date came from livestream content. The developer's original words indicated that 1.0 is planned for release this year, after ExileCon. ExileCon is in early November, so we can naturally deduce a release date: November or December.

Since the official PoE2 team hasn't given a specific release date, only a planned one, some players are pessimistic about PoE2's timely release. This is because PoE2 has a history of delays, many milestones haven't been completed on schedule, and the development scope has been constantly expanding.

Of course, some optimistic players believe it will release by the end of the year, as PoE 2 1.0 is largely complete, and from a commercial perspective, catching December Christmas season makes sense. However, others believe that even if PoE 2 1.0 is released on time, it might not be the complete 1.0 that players envision.

Core Gameplay

The clearest point is that Development Director Jonathan stated that the primary goal of 1.0 final version is to complete the entire campaign content. This means that Acts 5 and 6 will be officially added to the game, at which point Path of Exile 2 will have a complete storyline, thus officially ending Early Access phase.

Meanwhile, POE 2 development team hopes to further optimize endgame gameplay before the official release, refining class balance, skill mechanics, and the overall game experience, rather than adding numerous entirely new gameplay systems like in Patch 0.5.0.

While most players expect a system-wide overhaul or entirely new chapter-based expansions, this is unrealistic. POE 2's future update rhythm will most likely continue the existing core league mechanics and endgame gameplay, constantly expanding and adjusting them.

Regarding endgame gameplay, PoE2 1.0 will almost certainly continue to expand around Atlas of Worlds. Whether it's new boss mechanics, new map affixes, or league-specific endgame events, they are all essentially extensions of Atlas, as Atlas has become the core pillar of the entire POE 2 economic and progression cycle.

Classes and Weapons

The class and weapon systems in Path of Exile 2 1.0 have become the most hotly debated topic. Currently, there's no official commitment from the developers to include all missing classes in version 1.0. Many players believe the final version may retain some classes and weapons as future updates.

However, the community believes at least Swords weapon type will be added, as PoE development team previously stated that a final version without swords would be unacceptable. Furthermore, many players speculate that Duelists, most closely associated with swords, might appear in 1.0, but this hasn't been officially confirmed.

PoE 2 1.0 will probably continue to focus on refining and supplementing existing classes with minor expansions and numerical rebalancing. The developers seem more inclined to change the class ecosystem through skill gems, support mechanics, and talent tweaks, rather than adding entirely new base classes.

While some players are hoping for entirely new classes, such as characters with completely independent combat styles, while theoretically possible, it's more realistic to achieve a similar experience through ascendancy classes or skill reworks, rather than adding new complete class frameworks.

In terms of class skills, development will continue towards greater specialization and mechanics, gradually altering the economic cycle and players' demand for Path Of Exile 2 Currency. This is a key source of PoE 2's long-term vitality.

Regarding weapon types, future expansion will focus more on optimizing existing weapons. Traditional weapons like swords, axes, and bows will expand gameplay depth through skill synergies and legendary gear design, rather than introducing completely weapon categories.

The development direction of PoE 2 1.0 is more likely to strengthen the bond between weapons and skills, allowing different weapons to have clearer roles in builds, rather than simply increasing the number of types.

Balance Adjustments

Compared to content expansion, most players believe that maintaining balance is still the most important task for Path of Exile 2 1.0. As leagues progress, differences in skill strength, build bursts, and economic fluctuations will continue to exist. Therefore, continuously refining the balance mechanism will remain a core task for PoE 2.

The developers have mentioned that the game will only end Early Access once the overall balance of Path of Exile 2 reaches the standard of the full release. Therefore, many players believe that the focus of 1.0 will be on adjustments to classes, skills, and talent trees, rather than continuing to rapidly expand content.

It can be expected that future updates will continue to include nerfs and reworks targeting specific skills or playstyles, while periodically supporting weaker playstyles to maintain a dynamic balance in the overall ecosystem. This continuous parameter tuning model is the core structure of POE1's long-term lifecycle.

In summary, Path of Exile 2 1.0 will not be a completely new game, but will continuously develop and change through seasons, endgames, and the numerical system. For all players, it will remain a classic ARPG with a high learning curve and immense potential for character builds.
